Registered Dietitians are available to answer any questions about ingredient information in our all-you-care-to-eat dining centers. Our staff can provide a fresh menu item that has not been at risk of cross contact upon request.
All self-serve areas have ingredient information available upon request.
All students with food allergies are informed to use caution when eating from self-service areas, and to be aware of the potential for cross contact. Upon request, our dining operations will provide a fresh menu item that has not been at risk of cross contact.
We accommodate menu requests in any made-to-order station, depending on the individual's specific dietary needs.
Our dining services operations have established procedures for the layout of self-service areas in an attempt to minimize cross contact on the line.
We do not guarantee that our self-serve items are free from cross contact, but we recommend students request fresh menu items that are free from cross-contact.
Our dietitians work one-on-one with individuals who inform our staff of their dietary needs. We can make accommodations for any food allergy or intolerance brought to our attention.
Our food allergy training covers: food allergy 101, allergies versus intolerance and their reactions, what is anaphylaxis, emergency procedures, cross-contact versus cross contamination, safe food handling, and college and university policies.
In this RA training, we cover the topics of Food Allergy 101, symptoms of allergic reaction or anaphylaxis, what is Celiac Disease, Other medical or religious dietary needs, what is cross contact, Kansas State University Housing & Dining Policies and Procedures, how to connect students with a registered dietitian, looking for signs of student success, and empathy training.
If the student makes their allergy known to their RA, the necessary accommodations can be made.
Students may either contact the Housing and Dining Services department directly, or they could go through the Student Access Center.
Go to the student access center page. Click on the student tab and then click on accommodations. From there, you can find the required forms to complete and return for the Student Access Center to process your request.
