All hourly associates are required to take the following food allergy trainings annually. The trainings are provided by the Campus Registered Dietitian.

1. FARECheck Food Allergy Basics - Required for all hourly associates. Covers the top 9 allergens, cross-contact prevention, and proper communication with patrons.

2. OASIS Allergen-Friendly Station Implementation Guide - Provides general information for schools running an allergen-friendly food station. OASIS is a unique food station that is intended to provide menu options that are prepared without peanuts, tree nuts, sesame, fish, crustacean shellfish, eggs, milk, soy, wheat, and gluten. This reviews how to read food labels for the 9 major allergens and gluten, planning menu based on standardized recipes, storage and equipment requirements, and allergy testing procedures.

How can students submit an accommodations request?

To request an accommodation:

  1. Complete the Northeastern Disability Resource Center (DRC) Student Disclosure Form (PDF).
  2. Email dasoakland@northeastern.edu stating that you are seeking accommodations and would like to schedule a meeting.
  3. If you have medical documentation and/or an IEP or 504 Plan, please submit your documentation in advance of your scheduled meeting. Documentation can be sent via email to dasoakland@northeastern.edu, via fax (510.430.3235), or hand delivered to the front desk in the Cowell Building. If necessary, submit a disability-specific disclosure form to be completed by a clinician (visit the Disability Resource Center’s website for the relevant documentation).
  4. Once your documentation is received, a SASS staff member will reach out to you to schedule an intake appointment to discuss your needs and accommodations. After this meeting, you will be able to request your accommodations online through the Disability Resource Center Portal. You will then be able to send a notification of accommodation to your faculty. No personal or medical information will be disclosed.
  5. If your accommodations include extended time and/or a distraction reduced environment for testing, you will need to make reservations for each test you take through the DRC Portal.
  6. Please note that you will need to re-request your accommodations through the DRC Portal each semester.
  7. For food allergy or dietary accommodations, please also reach out to the Campus Registered Dietitian at nudietitians@northeastern.edu to schedule a call to review dietary accommodations.
