University of New England
VerifiedWe have a station called Inspired Eats, that offers an allergen free station including sesame.
There is a Book at the front desk with recipes and list of all ingredients in any of the meals we are having that week. This is available a the desk everyday.
We have a station specifically that is allergen free.
We ask that the customer lets us know of allergies. When allergies are presented we take the time to clean our station, change our gloves and eliminate any cross-contamination. If there is a Possibility that we cannot avoid it, we will let the customer know and refer them on what we can do, or where we can send them for an allergen free meal.
We label everything, we also try to put the items that are allergy free first on the line to avoid as much cross-contamination as possible.
We will meet with students and parents to come up with a plan if there dietary needs need to be pre-ordered. We also like to meet with all students with allergies to get to know them and know what there specific needs are. When we personally meet with each student, we give out our personal contact so we can be reached at anytime.
Our Inspired Eats section, allergen-free section, now has a member of the dining staff serving students that come into the section (no outside food/drinks/or dinnerware are allowed in that section). This station is in its own area. It has its own pots, pans, knifes, dishwasher. All items that are allergen free are prepared only in this kitchen. This eliminates all cross contamination. Our chefs are also allergen trained as well.
