There is a designated section of the salad bar that is made without gluten and dairy free.

Individually packaged gluten-free muffins, bagels, bread and yogurt are housed in a self-serve refrigerator.
Students concerned about cross-contact in self service areas can ask a supervisor for assistance.
Pre-Order Meals at Vail Commons: In certain situations, menu items may needed to be prepared individually to meet students' dietary needs. Please contact our Registered Dietitian to review your diet prescription plan. If a student needs a specially prepared meal, they may email vailchefs@davidson.edu 24 hours in advance of the desired meal.
We have an allergy friendly station called "Friendly Fork" within Vail Commons.
We train our staff on the importance of safety regarding food allergies. Staff are educated on preventing cross contamination, changing gloves, changing utensils and recipe substitutions.
A survey is sent to each resident at the beginning of the year about programming and has field for stating food allergies/special diets. Safety and inclusion are priorities.
CATERING DETAILS
On the housing application on the portal, students can indicate food allergies that will be considered during roommate "intentional pairing". Students must work with the Disability Resources Office.
