For students who are unable to enjoy an allergen-free meal directly from our stations, we provide a pre-order meal service. Through this service, students can work directly with our culinary and leadership team to request their meal in advance. Each order is prepared in a dedicated allergen-free environment and made available for pick-up at the time specified.
If you would like to learn more or believe you may qualify for this service, please reach out to our on-site dietitian, Grace Barbaro, at barbaro-grace@aramark.com.
Sadler and Commons offer True Balance, an entire station dedicated to serving foods without the top 9 allergies and gluten. Regardless of food allergy or sensitivity, all students should be able to enjoy their favorite dishes, including Macaroni & Cheese, baked BBQ wings, stir-fry, and more!
At the Food Hall @ Sadler, you’ll find our Stress-Less Zone, a dedicated space designed for students avoiding gluten, peanuts, and tree nuts. While nuts are not used in any of our recipes in our residential dining halls, this area provides an extra layer of convenience.
In the Stress-Less Zone, you’ll find:
-
Gluten-free options such as waffles, packaged breads, muffins, and cereals
-
A separate microwave and toaster reserved exclusively for gluten-free products
-
Condiments
-
Dairy-free milk alternatives
For those wanting to further reduce cross-contact, an additional toaster located behind the True Balance line. Please see one of our True Balance associates for assistance.
For students dining at Commons, packaged gluten-free products are also available upon request.
Our executive chefs and managers receive AllerTrainU certification. Our entire management and True Balance team receive formal allergy training every semester as well as continuous training during the semester.
All employees receive a general allergen training at the start of each semester. We perform regular audits and retraining throughout the semester as well.

Although we do not currently stock undesignated epinephrine, we strongly encourage students with food allergies who require epinephrine to carry their own at all times and, when possible, dine with a friend. Our staff is trained to recognize the signs of anaphylaxis and to immediately contact emergency responders if needed.
If 911 is called for a medical emergency, then Williamsburg fire department/EMS responds and they carry epinephrine.
